Genoa, November 19, 2024 – Esaote S.p.A., one of the leading innovators in medical imaging for over 40 years – ultrasound, MRI and software to manage the diagnostic process – is participating with one of its patents in the “Italy of Patents: successful inventions and innovations” exhibition, organized by the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy to celebrate the 140th anniversary of the founding of the Italian Patient and Trademark Office. The exhibition will be open to visitors from Saturday, November 23, 2024.
For the organizers, their objective is to tell the story of the past and present of Italian society, through the impact – including internationally – of 106 patents for industrial inventions, comparing different generations of creators. Not only that, in the awareness that design, trademarks and patents represent outstanding features of Made in Italy, the exhibition aims to praise the genius of the people who have created something that has changed society, by becoming part of everyday life.
Esaote, in this context, has chosen to tell the story of the eXP patent of 2013, which introduced an innovative method for reconstruction of images in nuclear magnetic resonance. eXP technology, using a smaller amount of data sampled during acquisition, can reduce the time required to obtain the clinical image and guarantees its high quality. This innovation is applied in the form of O-scan, the Dedicated Magnetic Resonance System, aimed at osteoarticular examinations of the extremities (hand, wrist, elbow, knee, ankle, and foot), which has helped improve people's lives, for both medical users and patients. The system, which features an open magnet, makes it possible to perform resonance examinations with no effects of claustrophobia and, due to its low consumption as well as ease of installation and operation, proves to be a highly sustainable diagnostic tool.
“We are proud to have been selected and to be taking part with the eXP patent in this major exhibition, which celebrates Italian capacity for innovation, where intellectual property law is the driving force. In this context, we believe that we have always been pioneers and have contributed to changing habits in our society,” stated Franco Fontana, CEO of Esaote S.p.A. “For Esaote, where our mission is to improve people's- well-being, research and development have always been strategic factors in innovating in technology and design, and in increasing proximity to the needs of healthcare professionals and patients.”
The exhibition is open to the public on weekends from November 23 through March 2025 from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Ministry offices (Palazzo Piacentini, Via Veneto 33, Rome). www.mimit.gov.it/it/italiadeibrevetti
